Lights out. First sounds of dark and hypnotizing intro. Four shades appeared on the stage among the remaining of nowt. PSEUDOGOD from Perm' opened the happening with the storming tunes in the vein of ARCHGOAT, ANTAEUS and KATHARSIS. The lineup changes raised the level of the band’s sound and appearance. Hammer replaced I.S.K.H with increasing overall tempo and adding catchy drum-rolls and accents. I.S.K.H. himself took the duties of the frontman doing his work confidently. As usually, PSEUDOGOD played without bass-guitar, but the sound was still thick and powerful thanks to two guitars. The band played as old songs from the "Illusion of Salvation" demo as new ones from the upcoming split with BLAZE OF PERDITION from Poland. The pleasant surprise was an outstanding cover on "the Gate of Nanna" originally created by a completely unknown finish band. On high speed and well-arranged drum parties the cover appeared to sound hardly worse then original hymn. At that time, INQUISITION themselves swam into the venue and proceeded to the backstage.

"I am not Sick, I am Insane" was written on the T-shirt of vocalist and describing the performance perfectly. BLACKDEATH was also in refreshed lineup. Maya from KOSHUNY and ERET' took place behind the drums and played extremely powerful, accurate and in the unique style of the band. Intensity and insanity that cannot be described, but should be heard and felt. Among the old titles some unreleased new songs from the upcoming album were performed. Fast, groovy but also in traditional BLACKDEATH way and even better then ever. Terror and hate, monotonous slaughter and estranged Para Bellum on the front. Seizes of agony and stare to the emptiness, shamanic trance and knocking down sound storm. The next band to play after Such Performance should be considered unlucky but the next was INQUISITION.
The lights are off. Well-known intro from the latest album creates atmosphere. Feedback and those who deserved respect in worldwide Black Metal underground start their mass. Sound knocks down with might even with traditional for the band single guitar. Every single note is picked with soul and mastership and is heard clearly. Drums sound a bit higher in the mix and bass-drum echoes in the chest. Only a completely deaf person can be indifferent to the vocals varying from the brand style of Dagon to sombre declamations in low register and screams in the dramatic moments.

Though the club and the whole sound system were the best available in the town, it differed from one in Moscow to the worse. But plenty of time, calm atmosphere and professionalism of sound engineer allowed reaching the highest possible quality of sound. Skeptics, foodies, audiophiles and other musicologist can easily find thousands of shortcomings of the gig comparing with the Moscow one. Luckily none of them attended the show and the whole event was understood correctly and unambiguous. |
One can hardly argue with the opinion of Dagon that the Moscow performance was more "metal" and one in Tver more like a ritual. First rows of fanatics near the stage and half-filled venue of metalhead fellows was more like a closed event for initiated then a standard metal-gig for hanging out boozers. Nevertheless BLACKWINGED played their groovy stuff before almost empty venue the duet managed to perform at their best. The small circle of supporters enjoyed as their old material as several new "mature" and thought-out songs. Finished their set with cover "All Hail..." of a famous Portugal horde the band left stage for the powerful and violent performance of PSEUDOGOD that was as good as the previous day.
The second show of INQUISITION had lack of drive comparing with the Moscow one, but much more sincere then straightforward (though it was still very powerful, but different in kind of energy). While the stress in Moscow gig was on aggressive titles mid-tempo songs sounded much better in Tver. Those who supported the ritual with their deeds are to be mentioned asunder. Blood sacrifice. Insanity. Ritual. Chaos. |
